- EEG
- ECG
- EMG
- EOG
Galvani vs Volta
- galvani
- electricity comes from the animal (frog)
- volta
- No, it comes outside (e.g., metal contact)
Nervous System
- What is the Nervous System?
- The control center of the body
- Central Nervous System (중추 신경계, CNS)
- Brain (뇌)
- Spinal Cord (척수)
- Peripheral Nervous System (말초 신경계, PNS)
- Sensory Nerves (감각신경)
- Motor Nerves (운동신경)
In Our Body
- Sensory nerve tells spinal cord that fire is too hot.
- The spinal cord and brain proess this information.
- Spinal cord sends message through motor nerve to move hand.
Neuron
- A neuron is a specialised cell that forms the basis of the nervous system
- It is also known as a nerve cell(신경세포).
- A neuron is an electrically excitable cell (전기적 흥분 세포) that processes and transmits information in our body.
- Sensory Neurons (감각 뉴런)
- Sending signals to the CNS
- Motor Neurons (운동 뉴런)
- Sending signals away from the CNS
- Processing information in the CNS
- Dendrites : receiving input from other neurons (수상돌기)
- Soma (cell body) : supporting neurons and containing nucleus (세포체)
- Nucleus : producing nutriment (energy)
- Axon : transmitting information to different neurons (축삭 돌기)
- Axon terminals : sending signals to other meurons (축삭 종말)
- Myelin sheaths : speeding up electrical signals (fatty substance) (수초)
Action Potential (활동전위)
- Resting Period (안정상태)
- Resting Period → Depolarization Period (탈분극)
- Depolarization Period → Repolarization Period (재분극)
- Refractory Period (불응기) → Resting State
- All - or - None Law (실무율)
- 자극 < threshold : nothing happens (NONE)
- 자극 > threshold : action potential (ALL)
- 자극 A > 자극 B > threshold : same level of action potential, but much faster for stimulus A (level이 달라지는 것이 아니라 action potential의 빈도가 많아짐)
Saltatory Conduction
Synaptic Transmission
- Conponents of a chemical synaps
